The INNER YOU!
Thursday, November 24th, 2005When a
man looks at a woman, he doesn’t just see the outer packaging.
A truly
alluring woman is more than pretty. In fact, she may not even be pretty at all!
Ever
known of a woman who had a wonderful guy who adored her, but you wondered,
‘What on
earth does he see in her?’
Make no
mistake, it’s no accident when people get together - or stay together.
When a
man sees a woman, he sees what she projects from within.
Everywhere
you go, you are a walking billboard regarding your self-esteem,
your
self-respect, your self-confidence, and your inner peace.
People
love to be around others who have these qualities, and will flock to them
and stick
with them like glue.
Some
might say, my self-esteem is shot, or else, it never
was too
great to begin with!’
There can
be a million reasons why this is the case.
But who
is going to take care of you?
That is
the work of your life - to make yourself all you can be, for your own
sake and
for the sake of the people you love now, and will love in the future.
Never
give up.
And don’t
treat yourself worse than you would treat a good friend!
That
means you should be as kind to yourself as your best friend would be.
That’s a
tall order if you’re in the habit of being down on yourself. If you’re
in that
habit, it’s time to change.
It feels
a lot better when you stop beating up on yourself for past mistakes
that you
cannot change now.
Refuse to
let yourself think harshly toward yourself. If you have made a
mistake,
you have probably paid for it a hundredfold in regrets or consequences.
On the
subject of men, if there’s one thing a man wants to avoid like
the
plague, it’s a woman who is full of pain and sorrow when he first meets
her.
Guys have
a built-in trauma detector and do not want to be your therapist.
Some guys
will take on this role in order to be your hero, but it’s not a
good
framework for a healthy relationship.
Pain and
anguish do not make good companions for a first date.
It’s also
not appropriate to lay your problems on someone you don’t really
know,
anyway. It’s not in your best interest. It could come back to bite you!
Here’s to
treating ourselves with gentleness and kindness, and to taking care of
ourselves
so we can
have a wealth of good relationships with people who love and respect us for who
we are.
